Description
The piece is hand painted by one of the most famous Renaissance portrait artists in Deruta, Italy, A. Binaglia, whose best pieces are owned by the local Museum of Ceramics.
The design represents an Assyrian girl with dark curly hair and dark eyes wearing a dress with “palm” leaf (as seen on the Sacred Tree) on her chest, a bracelet with “lotus” pattern on her right arm, and a “rosette” necklace. The scene in the background represents the “Legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon”, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The date palm-tree behind her represents the most prominent tree in Assyria, Mesopotamia. The motifs throughout the edges represent Assyrian reliefs and artifacts.
Concept designed by Rashel Betyadgar.
